What's New?
October 2
- The IGDA Demo Day was a success. It was a lot of fun getting to see other peoples projects, seeing people play mine and getting feedback on it. I learned quite a bit and look forward to the next one. For Demo Day, I took the project I made for a previous One Month Challenge, Gun Jumper, and spent around another month polishing it up a bit. I ended up changing the name to Recoil Z, and I have added it as a new entry in the One Month Challenge section in Projects.

- Tomorrow starts the IGDA California Clash game jam, a competitive jam between game developers in California, each representing their city's IGDA chapter. I plan on participating solo in this jam, and hope that I can bring some game dev honor to San Diego!

- I have also been working on a new little project for the past week or so that I am pretty happy with so far, but I will unfortunately have to put it on hold for a couple weeks since the California Clash Jam runs for the next 10 days, and then I will be busy for the following week. Hopefully I can share something with you all soon.

See you soon.
Welcome to Chris Brown's Game Dev Portfolio
I am an Game Developer who began my game-making journey in 2016 when I started using Unreal Engine as a hobbyist. Over the years, that hobby turned into a passion. That passion went from learning Unreal, to learning countless other software, languages, and theories. It spawned a need and want to learn 3D modeling, 2D textures and materials, UI/UX, game design theory, animation and rigging, 2D sprite animation, particle and visual effects, sound design, even another game engine (Godot), amongst a million other things. Every time I learn something new, I discover a whole new path that needs to be explored and learned.

During the midst of Covid, I found out that San Diego's Mesa College was offering some online classes for Unreal Engine and I thought it would be a great opportunity to expand my knowledge. This lead me down a path of taking numerous other game-dev related classes including C++, Python, Business of Games, Game Design theory, 3D modeling, and several others.

Through meeting and working alongside other aspiring game developers and industry professionals, I discovered a community of people who are sharing a similar experience as me. I found out about IGDA meetups and the various Discord servers where devs discuss, ask questions, and help each other with various aspects of game development. While my original plan was to go it alone, I have since realized that I don't have to.

Have a look at my Projects page to see what I have been up to. And thank you for taking the time to read this.
